Job Title: HVAC Maintenance Specialist
At J & J Worldwide Services, we offer a competitive salary of $60,000 - $80,000 per year for our HVAC Maintenance Specialist position.
Job Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance on HVAC equipment, responding to trouble calls regarding temperature controls, and completing work request forms summarizing work performed. Excellent communication skills are required to interact with customers and staff.
We maintain a drug-free workplace and perform pre-employment substance abuse testing.
This role requires EPA certification to purchase and handle ozone-depleting chemicals as outlined in federal and state regulations.
Essential Duties:
• Installs belts, air, and water filters in completed installations.
• Injects small amounts of refrigerant into compressors to test systems and add Freon gas to build up prescribed operating pressure.
• Observes pressure and vacuum gauges and adjusts controls to ensure proper operation.
• Tests joints and connections for gas leaks using gauges or soap and water solution.
• Wraps pipes in insulation batting and secures them in place with cement or wire bands.
• Replaces defective breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses, and electrical wiring to repair installed units, using electrician's hand tools and test equipment.
• May install, repair, and service air conditioners ranging from 15 to 20 tons cooling capacity.
Knowledge, Experience, and Skill Requirements:
• Ability to perform most complex and unusual tasks of the craft without supervision.
• Must be able to read and understand blueprints, construction drawings, schematics, and diagrams as they pertain to the craft.
• Ability to perform work of the craft in a rapid and efficient manner under extreme conditions.
• Must be able to perform work safely under hazardous conditions.
• Able to troubleshoot and repair most complex problems.
• Expert knowledge of craft theory and craft materials with the ability to apply the theory and select the proper materials.
• Trained in all types and sizes of air conditioning, refrigeration, and evaporative cooling equipment.
• EPA certification to purchase and handle ozone-depleting chemicals as outlined in federal and state regulations.
