Job Title: Refrigeration Equipment Technician
We are seeking an experienced Refrigeration Equipment Technician to join our team at Design Mechanical.
Job Description:
• As a Refrigeration Equipment Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of refrigeration equipment in commercial settings.
• You will work on various systems, including large walk-in coolers, rack systems, freezers, ice machines, and other equipment using refrigeration technology.
Key Responsibilities:
• Maintenance and repair work involves diagnosing issues, replacing defective parts, and performing routine maintenance tasks.
• Regular system checks ensure refrigeration units remain in optimal condition, reducing the risk of unexpected breakdowns, leaks, or efficiency losses.
• Working with complex systems requires excellent attention to detail.
• A refrigeration technician must be able to identify small issues that could lead to bigger problems down the line if overlooked.
• You will work in association with the Refrigeration Service Technician Lead regarding project pricing, departmental needs, and growth opportunities.
• You will also work with the purchasing department to order necessary repair parts and consumable materials, maintaining appropriate inventory based on customer needs.
• Processing and completing work orders is essential.
• Emergency on-call availability is a basic requirement.
Requirements:
• Minimum 3 years' experience within the Commercial Refrigeration industry is required.
• The responsibilities of this role often involve heavy lifting, climbing, bending, and working in uncomfortable positions for extended periods.
• Experience in the service, maintenance, and retrofits of Ammonia refrigeration systems is preferred.
• Physical stamina and strength form an essential part of a refrigeration technician's skill set.
• Working knowledge of reciprocating, screw compressors, electrical troubleshooting, common types of industrial refrigeration, and/or gas compression experience is necessary.
• Industrial HVAC/R mechanical, electrical, and control system troubleshooting is also required.
• Industrial HVAC/R project management experience is beneficial.
• Familiarity with single systems and rack systems along with previous work on display cases and walk-in boxes is extremely helpful.
• Experience with Ammonia Systems is a plus.
• Excellent written & verbal communication/presentation skills are essential.
• Experience with mentorship and training programs in a technical capacity is desirable.
• Computer literacy, specifically Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, is necessary.
Compensation:
$40.00-$52.00/hour (Estimated salary range based on industry standards)
