This position requires you to have the ability to respond to service calls 24 hours a day and the salary will have a 10% assignment pay. This assignment pay is not reflected in the salary listed in the posting.
Responsible for the maintenance and operations of HVAC and building automation systems (BAS) serving a wide variety of city-owned facilities in order to provide a comfortable working environment for all city staff.

• Ability to work with crafts workers, maintenance workers, and electricians to complete various projects.
• Ability to effectively communicate information, both verbally and in writing, to support organizational objectives and interact with all levels of personnel within the city in a positive and cooperative manner.
• Ability to respond to service calls 24 hours a day.
• Frequently operates a personal or City-owned motor vehicle to drive to and from work locations throughout the City.

SCOPE OF AUTHORITY:
Receives general supervision under the direction from the manager of city facilities. Plans own work and prioritizes tasks. Detailed procedures exist to perform this role. Adheres to procedures set forth in the city codes, ordinances, rules and regulations and department and division policy.
Financial Accountability:
Makes recommendation to the manager of city facilities for budget allocation of the facilities management division. Decisions affected the financial outcome of projects. Approves purchases up to $2,000.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
No supervisory responsibilities.
COMMUNICATION/WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal Contacts: Manager of city facilities, construction and maintenance supervisor, facilities manager at the Arvada Center, electrician, and all levels of city staff.
External Contacts: Various contractors, vendors and the general public.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

Work is primarily performed in both outdoor and indoor environments with heavy noise levels. Physical effort and activities include: strenuous physical work. Exposure to a variety of weather conditions, noise, chemical fumes, dust and heavy equipment.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, LICENSE, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE):
High school diploma or GED and five (5) years’ experience with HVAC with 3 years’ experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) required with preferences towards Delta and Alerton Control Systems. EPA Certification in CFC Handling required. A valid Colorado driver’s license and acceptable driving record is required. Must pass a polygraph, criminal background check and physical.
Preferred Qualifications:
Formal training in HVAC work with an Associate’s Degree preferred.
