What We Offer
The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The target starting hourly base pay range (not including differential pay) for this position is $39.00-43.00/hour, based on experience and education. Plus, we pay extra for Shift Differential Pay on Swing and Graveyard shifts. We pay 7% extra pay on top of base pay for Swing shifts, and 12% extra pay on top of base pay for Graveyard shifts.
Location
This role is all on site at Denver International Airport, 8500 Pena Blvd. Denver, CO 80249. This position works 4 days a week, 10 hours a day. Day shift (6am-430pm), Swing shift (10am-830pm), graveyard shift (7pm to 630am). Shifts are either Tuesday through Friday or Monday through Thursday. Optional overtime (plenty available if you so choose!). On Call Snow/Emergency duties (October through May).
What You’ll Do
Responsibilities include:
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and inspect electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems for faults for HVAC systems.
• Develop HVAC system modification plans and estimate jobs for remodel activities.
• Perform installations, replacements, and repairs of forced air heating and duct work.
• Program and update automatic building system controls.
• Prepare working sketches and work from blueprints.
• Maintain records and prepare reports, estimate materials, labor, and equipment costs; observe all common safety practices.
• Develop or modify work plans, methods, and procedures, determine work priorities, and develop work schedules to provide adequate staff coverage.
• Provide work instruction and assist employees with difficult and/or unusual assignments.
• Resolve problems encountered during daily operations and determine appropriate solutions.
• Contribute to the development of the performance enhancement plan, document performance, provide performance feedback, and furnish information for the formal performance evaluation; other duties as assigned.
We are looking for dedicated HVAC mechanics with drive and ambition to maintain and keep DEN operational 24/7. There will be daily interaction with tenants ranging from the flying public to concessioners to DEN employees. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills will be crucial to success for this individual.
We are looking for candidates with some or all of the following skills and experience:
• 1-2 years of leading specialized HVAC teams and/or contractors.
• Knowledge of large-scale & large-size HVAC systems & equipment.
• HVAC experience (commercial and/or industrial); high level of skill in HVAC preventive maintenance, repairs, and project work.
• Knowledge of hydronic, DX, and forced air systems.
• Computer skills and experience with Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to adapt and learn new systems; Building Automation System experience helpful.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts based on business needs.
• Team oriented; willingness to help out where needed.
• HVAC certification preferred at time of application (Heating and Ventilating Journeyman or Refrigeration Journeyman).

• Education: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
• Experience Requirement: Four (4) years of professional journey level HVAC experience.
• This job requires driving. Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application.
• Possession of Heating and Ventilating Journeyman or Refrigeration Journeyman issued by the City and County of Denver by the end of the probationary period.
• Possession of CFC (Universal EPA) Chlorofluorocarbon certification required.
• Equivalency: A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements.
• Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.
