UW Facilities manages the University’s buildings, infrastructure and land, with more than 1,100 employees in a variety of fields. The Asset Management group includes Capital & Space Management, Real Estate, Sustainability and other teams responsible for planning and workload management. The Operations group includes Project Delivery, Maintenance & Construction, Campus Energy, Utilities & Operations, Building Services, Transportation Services and Safety.
Campus Energy, Utilities & Operations has an outstanding opportunity for an HVAC Control Technician (Control Technician) to perform journey level work in the operation, inspection, testing, servicing and maintenance of mechanical, pneumatic, electronic and direct digital controls (DDC) for heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) of the complex building systems.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Troubleshoot and resolve operation and maintenance problems of complex building environmental control systems that are both pneumatic and DDC.
• Install, modify, diagnose, test, repair, calibrate and operate a variety of mechanical, pneumatic, electrical and electronic equipment in HVAC systems.
• Perform alteration, repair, and maintenance of buildings, facilities, and equipment.
• Suggest operation strategies for campus HVAC systems to ensure continuous and reliable service.
• Operate vehicles such as University vans and trucks to transport tools and equipment to various worksites.
• Respond to emergency situations such as HVAC outages to minimize or prevent loss of property, damage to research activities, and disruption to life-safety systems.
• Perform the work in accordance with applicable safety rules and environmental regulatory requirements and maintain records as required according to environmental requirements.
• Work with other trades to troubleshoot and repair system failures related to all aspects of the HVAC equipment and systems.
• Work with the preventive maintenance program on equipment, components, and systems.
• Assist with record keeping for the preventive maintenance program of the environmental control systems.
• Maintain and update system schematics through red line system changes and create, if necessary, mechanical, pneumatic, and DDC system schematics.
• Participate in and follow through with Campus Engineering & Operations process improvement initiatives (Lean, Ideas Systems).
• Comply with occupational health and safety regulations that apply to work actions and conduct on the job, including the use of personal protective equipment whenever required; report safety infractions to the supervisor.
• Work with Engineering Services, Capital Planning and Development, contractors, Facilities trades, building occupants, and other clients as necessary for scheduled and planned required work.
• Operate a variety of hand and power tools.

• Install, modify, diagnose, test, repair, and calibrate a variety of resource & energy meters and associated systems and equipment.
• Perform alteration, repair, and maintenance of resource & energy meters and associated equipment.
• Perform meter readings as needed to report accurate energy & resource usage of buildings on campus.
• Maintain resource & energy metering inventory.
