Description
Overview:
The Project Manager has the responsibility to acquire and manage the delivery of projects at targeted gross profit levels. Acts as the principal point of contact to the client, leading our efforts to deliver solutions that meet and exceed customer requirements. Manages technical and engineering functions and is responsible for the financial results of projects and activities assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Working in conjunction with the Company’s Sales and Operations Management, Account/Project Managers, and Service Technicians, oversees the pursuit of project sales to existing customer base and targeted new business prospects.
• Develops and updates project implementation plans, coordinating resources to ensure timely and cost-effective installation and completion of assigned projects or tasks.
• Completion of conceptual engineering, full and complete project estimates, and written proposals.
• Ensures profitable completion of each project or task. Effectively manages cash cost and billing. Consistently produces billings in a timely and accurate manner in a format required by our customers and ensures that billings are clearly communicated to our customers. Maintains profitability goals and positive cash flow. Understands and provides input on cost allocation to financial reporting systems. Effectively communicates financial status to management.
• Manages the engineering process to include coordination with either internal engineering team or 3rd party resources. Will configure, design, and engineer systems in the most cost-effective manner while maintaining quality and ensuring customer satisfaction.
• Oversees project installation for compliance with contracted scope, schedule, and quality.
• Responsible for customer approval of technical submittals created for the project.
• Manages material procurement process for the projects assigned. May select and order appropriate materials. Monitors material usage cost and inventory.
• Plans and monitors commissioning and checkout of the system before release to the owner/operator. Ensures job completion documentation is complete. ·
• Properly assigns technical resources for problem resolutions.
• Proactively evaluates potential problems on the job and initiates action to limit negative outcomes.
• Identifies and submits change order requests to original contract when required.
• Develops and maintains viable relationships with customers, prime contractors, subcontractors, and trade personnel. Schedules and attends progress meetings as directed. Provides detailed instructions to and interfaces with installers and subcontractors.
• Adheres to the Company’s safety standards, continually promoting safety awareness across all projects and activities.
Qualification Requirements:
• 10+ years experience with designing, installing, and managing HVAC, Plumbing, or Controls projects.
• BS in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management a plus, but not required where appropriate skills and experience apply.
• Ability to operate independently and autonomously and yet possess the discretionary judgment to know when it's appropriate to consult with others in the organization.
• Familiar with construction and facility service trade labor practices.
• Ability to effectively represent United Mechanical and communicate with internal and external customers and others at varying technical levels.
• Strong interpersonal and project management abilities employing strong organizational skills to respond successfully to a high volume of issues.
