Job Description
As an Industrial Boiler Technician with the City of Chicago, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of industrial boiler systems. Your responsibilities will include installing, removing, repairing, and maintaining industrial boiler systems and related equipment.
You will also be responsible for cleaning and replacing worn safety valves, air vents, steam traps, pressure gauges, gaskets, filters, and fittings and related appurtenances of the piping system. Additionally, you will operate specialized equipment and tools to cut, weld, solder, braze, and thread pipes to specification.
Key Skills and Qualifications
• Experience working with low and high-pressure boilers, radiators, compressors, and pumps
• Strong knowledge of steam fitting and HVAC service principles
• Ability to read documents (e.g., blueprints, specifications, work orders) to assess work required and to determine proper installation and repair methods
• Valid State of Illinois Driver's License
