Job Overview
At Sturm Heating and Air Conditioning LLC, a leading HVAC contractor in the Greater Spokane area for over 85 years, we are currently seeking an experienced Pre-Lead Install Technician to join our team. This role offers a competitive salary of $28 - $45/hour, with additional benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance fully covered by the employer, as well as a 401K plan with up to 4% employer match.
Primary Responsibilities
The primary function of this role is to install heating and air conditioning systems to company standards, providing customers with a high-quality experience. As a supervisory figure, you will be responsible for overseeing the work of other installers, ensuring timely job performance, and maintaining high quality.
• Operate company vehicles daily
• FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS FROM SUPERVISOR AND COMPLETE TASKS IN A TIMELY MANNER
• Supervise and be responsible for other installers
• Report any issues with company tools or vehicles promptly
• Maintain effective working relationships with customers, colleagues, and subcontractors
• Adhere to a staggered schedule if required
• Maintain a professional relationship with builders
• Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times
• Work independently without supervision
• Complete jobs within labor budgets
• Complete all necessary paperwork, job packets, change orders, and time cards
• Train apprentice-level installers
• Participate in 12 hours of job-related training annually
• Prepare for NATE core testing
• Work on small projects from start to finish
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must possess all Level 1 and 2 qualifications, along with the following:
• Valid EPA Certification Universal
• Ability to proficiently install round and rectangular duct
• Able to measure ductwork and install equipment accessories
• Basis understanding of more complex sheet metal fittings
• Ability to manage projects when the lead is absent
• Knowledge to properly layout venting systems
• Ability to solve basic installation problems
• Can complete simple low-voltage connections on furnaces, air handlers, and air conditioners
• Maintain effective communication with supervisors, builders, and other trades
• Maintain relationships with builders and subcontractors
• Ability to complete all necessary paperwork
• Able to follow through on change orders
• Braze line sets
• Test line sets
• Able to supervise others
• Comfortable working in tight spaces
• Ability to lift 100lbs
• Exposed to outdoor environments and extreme temperatures at times
• Comfortable working from ladders
• Ability to manipulate objects with fingers
• Occasional exposure to high levels of dust
• On-site work at client residences
