POSITION SUMMARY:
Under daily supervision from Building Automation Team Leader, Tech II is responsible for installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting building unit controllers and Facility Management Systems. Provides detailed information to communicate design to customers, field installation team and subcontractors. Serves as the technical resource for Controls Technician 1. Controls Technician II will also be required to Perform functions of Preventative Maintenance agreements and participate in our on-call rotation.
REQUIREMENTS:
• 5-10 years HVAC Controls data base integrations and sub system experience. We support several control systems: such as Trane, JCI, Siemens, Carrier, Niagara, and others
• Niagara certified with 5+ years related experience (additional certifications helpful)
• Strong working experience and knowledge of general construction industry with focus on HVAC systems (Boilers, Chillers, RTU’s, AHU’s and VAV’s) and building automation control
• Must understand controls strategies and with the ability to configure and commission building automation control per basis of design and company standards
• Must understanding communication protocols (BACnet, Modbus, and Lon) with the ability to troubleshoot said protocols
• Strong understanding of control circuitry and wiring diagrams
• Strong understanding and troubleshooting inputs/outputs, networks, and communication on end devices
• Effective interpersonal skills to properly represent us to customers and our Team members
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain an insurable driving record
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Accountable to Team Leader and field teams for quality, timeliness, and efficiency of designs; participates in engineering release meeting with project field team

• Performs static (standalone) and dynamic (total building interactive network) software programming independently with support from Team Lead
• Ability to configure customer operator workstations and all required software (Such as integration device data, trends, history, alarms, and graphics)
• Calibrates systems requiring basic electronic test equipment, such as multi-meters, network terminals and/or a lap top computer
• Reviews customer’s systems and point out other areas of improvement and keeps management apprised of customer concerns and issues
• Controls Technician II will need to be able to understand basic networking and communication troubleshooting
• Complete all required commissioning documentation and provides accurate information for as-builts documentation
• Performs site specific training for owner/operator on the total system and assists with turnover to service
• Conducts self-study (reading, research, and practice) to improve technical proficiency (software/hardware) in company's product lines
• Ability to communicate technical material to a non-technical audience
• Ability to support and mentor Control Technician I on installation verification, best practice, and validation of installed control projects
• Experience with computer aided design; strong PC skills required
• Communicates with our Team Lead, Supervisors, Project Manager, and/or customer upon arrival and before leaving the work site on progress
• Communicates effectively with the general or mechanical contractor, consultants, architect engineers and other sub-contractors as required
• Completes all required commissioning documentation, including daily work performed, time sheets, expense sheets, service work orders, as well as on-site documentation
• Adheres to safety standards and has a high degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety.
