Job Description
The HVAC Service Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations and management of the HVAC department. This includes supervising HVAC technicians and installers, ensuring the highest standards of customer service, managing the department’s budget, and ensuring all services are performed in compliance with safety standards and regulations. The Service Manager plays a key role in maintaining and enhancing the company’s reputation, ensuring that customers receive top-quality service and support.
Key Responsibilities:
1) Team Leadership:
• Supervise and manage a team of HVAC service technicians and installers.
• Provide training, mentorship, and performance reviews to improve skills and efficiency.
• Ensure all technicians are properly equipped, skilled, and knowledgeable to perform HVAC services.
2) Customer Service:
• Oversee customer relations, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
• Address and resolve customer complaints and issues in a timely and professional manner.
3) Operations and Service Delivery:
• Monitor the daily operations of the HVAC service department, ensuring all work is completed on time, within budget, and to company standards.
• Review work orders, inspection reports, and service records for accuracy.
• Ensure all HVAC systems are installed, maintained, and repaired in accordance with industry standards and codes.
• Develop and implement strategies to improve service department efficiency and productivity.
4) Budget and Financial Management:
• Develop and manage the HVAC department’s budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
• Oversee the purchasing of tools, equipment, and inventory for the HVAC department.
• Monitor department profitability and manage service contracts to ensure financial targets are met.
5) Compliance and Safety:
• Ensure all HVAC operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as safety standards.
• Monitor and enforce proper safety procedures and protocols to prevent accidents and ensure employee safety.
• Maintain and update records related to service work, safety reports, and regulatory compliance.
6) Continuous Improvement:
• Stay updated with the latest HVAC technologies, industry trends, and best practices.
• Implement improvements in service procedures, customer interaction, and operational efficiency.
• Create and implement training programs to enhance technician skills and department performance.
7) Sales and Business Development:
• Identify new business opportunities and work with the sales team to expand service contracts and offerings.
• Support the sales team in preparing bids and proposals for new and existing clients.
• Assist in the development of marketing strategies for the HVAC service department.
Qualifications:
• Proven experience in HVAC service management or a related field, with at least 3-5 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, equipment, and troubleshooting.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage budgets, service contracts, and inventory effectively.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a customer-focused mindset.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and HVAC industry regulations.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, tools, and materials.
• Comfortable working in various environments, including hot, cold, or confined spaces.
• Ability to travel to client locations as required.
Work Environment:
• The HVAC Service Manager typically works in an office setting but will frequently visit job sites, including residential and commercial buildings.
• Overtime and on-call availability may be required during peak service periods or for emergency calls.
