Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Commercial Refrigeration Technician based out of Louisville, KY, to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with commercial refrigeration systems, including ammonia refrigeration, air conditioning, HVAC/R, and equipment repair, particularly in a restaurant setting. This position offers the opportunity to work on a variety of refrigeration systems and HVAC units, ensuring they operate efficiently and reliably. This role requires a technician with their own tools and a properly equipped vehicle. Some overnight travel may be required to visit different job sites.
Key Responsibilities:
• Inspection & Diagnosis:
• Conduct thorough inspections of commercial refrigeration equipment, including walk-in coolers, freezers, ice machines, and other refrigeration systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot issues related to ammonia refrigeration, air conditioning, HVAC/R systems, and general equipment repair.
• Identify and interpret error codes and system malfunctions across a range of refrigeration systems and HVAC units.
• Repair & Maintenance:
• Perform repairs on faulty refrigeration systems and HVAC units, including replacing or repairing components such as compressors, condensers, evaporators, thermostats, and ammonia components.
• Conduct routine maintenance tasks to ensure optimal performance, including cleaning coils, checking refrigerant levels, inspecting electrical connections, and addressing any issues with HVAC/R systems.
• Ensure all repairs and maintenance are completed to industry standards and comply with safety regulations.
• Customer Interaction:
• Communicate effectively with restaurant staff and management to understand issues, provide updates, and offer solutions.
• Provide professional and courteous service while on-site, ensuring minimal disruption to restaurant operations.
• Documentation & Reporting:
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, including service reports, parts used, and time spent on each job.
• Provide detailed reports and recommendations for any additional work or future maintenance needs.
• Vehicle & Tools:
• Utilize your own tools and ensure they are well-maintained and in good working order.
• Operate a properly equipped vehicle to transport tools and equipment to various job sites efficiently.
• Travel Requirements:
• Be prepared for occasional overnight travel to various job sites, which may require staying away from home.
Requirements:
• Experience:
• Proven experience as a commercial refrigeration technician or similar role, with expertise in ammonia refrigeration, air conditioning, HVAC/R, and equipment repair.
• Strong knowledge of refrigeration systems, electrical circuits, and mechanical components.
• Qualifications:
• Relevant certifications and licenses as required by local regulations.
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or an associate degree in HVAC or refrigeration technology is a plus.
• Skills:
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and repair complex issues in refrigeration and HVAC systems.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Good communication skills and a professional demeanor.
• Tools & Vehicle:
• Must have a complete set of personal tools for refrigeration and HVAC work.
• Must have access to a properly equipped vehicle suitable for transporting tools and equipment.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and tools.
• Comfortable working in various environments, including potentially cold or hot conditions.
• Ability to perform tasks that require climbing ladders and working in confined spaces.
