Position Summary
The Facilities Services Department at Whitworth University is seeking an HVACR Specialist to join our team of dedicated maintenance professionals. In this role you will perform a variety of skilled services in maintenance and engineering related to the heating, ventilation, commercial refrigeration, and air conditioning systems on campus, including the central steam heating plant. You will join a team of eight trades professionals who serve the Whitworth community today and sustain our campus for tomorrow. Core Responsibilities
HVACR Operations | 90%
• Perform a variety of skilled/journeyman-level duties in the heating, ventilation, commercial refrigeration, and air conditioning systems, including localized boilers and steam hot water heaters.
• Operate, service, maintain, repair, and recondition commercial and residential electric and natural gas fired appliances, refrigeration plants and appliances, and air conditioning systems
• Utilize Lock out tag out system when performing work on equipment
• Maintain/service, program, and repair all building HVACR electronic systems, controls, and computer-based energy management programs
• Maintain a comprehensive, on-going, preventive maintenance program, including maintenance, operating, and other appropriate records and logs
• Interact with campus systems to access As-builts and building documentation necessary for troubleshooting systems.

• Assists in HVACR design and modifications as part of facilities remodeling and new construction as required
• Perform emergency call-out services as required
• Complete parts and materials requisitions for HVACR related systems
• Supervise and train student workers when assigned
• Perform other duties as assigned, including assisting other trades
Qualifications and Core Competencies
Education and Experience
• Completion of a vocational program or apprenticeship in HVAC technology, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Experience with tools and equipment used in HVAC installation and maintenance.
• A personal commitment to the Christian faith and to the integration of faith and learning.
• A commitment to the educational mission of Whitworth University as a comprehensive Christian liberal arts university affiliated with the Presbyterian church.
Certification and License
• Heating Mechanic I license
• Universal CFC certificate.
• Valid drivers license.
Applicants with experience who can obtain the certification in the first 90 days of employment will be considered.
Core Competencies
• Commitment to safety protocols and regulations in the HVAC industry.
• Knowledge of building control systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and basic computer competencies.
• Basic understanding of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and components.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and technologies in the HVAC field.
• Excellent communication skills and customer service orientation.
• Physical ability to lift, carry, and work in various indoor and outdoor environments.
Preferred
• O6A electrical license.
• Heating Mechanic II license.
• Journey-level experience in commercial and residential heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems or completing journey-level certification.

Schedule
Full Time (1.0 FTE) | 12 months | 40 hours per week
This position responds to evening and weekend calls for emergency services and control work. Requires a valid driver's license.
