Job Overview
As a mechanical engineer at Bender Dean Engineering, you will work closely with our team in the San Diego office to design and develop innovative solutions for a diverse range of clients and projects.
Daily Responsibilities
• Provide expert mechanical engineering services for HVAC and plumbing systems, from schematic design to final construction documents and administration.
• Conduct energy calculations, HVAC load calculations, and building modeling to ensure efficient and effective systems.
• Review and approve shop drawings and submittals for construction administration.
• Participate in job meetings and site visits to oversee field work and ensure project success.
Requirements
• Mechanical engineers or designers with 4-6 years of experience in healthcare, commercial complexes, education, military, and institutional design.
• Strong working knowledge of hydronic piping, load calculations, duct sizing/layout, plumbing piping, and medical gas sizing/layout.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with building owners, architects, and maintenance personnel.
• A self-starter with the ability to perform daily tasks with minimal oversight and direction.
• AutoCAD experience (Revit a plus).
• Familiarity with California Mechanical, Plumbing, Building codes, and Military UFCs (Unified Facilities Criteria).
• Ability to work extra hours as needed to meet client deadlines.
