HVAC Mechanic
Summary
We are seeking a skilled HVAC Mechanic to join our team in support of an operations and maintenance (O&M) contract for a federal agency in Rockville, MD. The ideal candidate will have three (3) years of journeyman level experience in maintenance, repair and operation of buildings.
Description
The HVAC Mechanic shall perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot HVAC equipment. Responsibilities include understanding written and oral instructions, performing basic building maintenance, and being knowledgeable and skilled in HVAC installs, services, and repairs.
Responsibilities
• Understand written and oral instructions to perform the required work
• Perform basic building maintenance (preventive, predictive) of a government commercial office building
• Must be knowledgeable and skilled in HVAC installs, services and repairs, including:
• Connect motors, compressor, temperature controls, humidity controls, and circulating ventilation fans to control panels and connects control panels to power source
• Installs air and water filters in completed installation
• Injects small amount of refrigerant into compressor to test systems and add Freon gas to build up prescribed operating pressure
• Observe pressure and vacuum gauges and adjust controls to insure proper operation, test joints and connections for gas leaks, using gauges or soap- and-water solution, wraps pipe in insulation batting and secures them in place with cement or wire bands
• Replace defective breaker controls, thermostat, switches, fuses and electrical wiring to repair installed units, may install, repair and service air conditioners
• Responsible for maintaining, responding to service requests, as needed, under guidance of the PM, Deputy PM or Chief Engineer.
• Use a variety of power and hand tools to perform job functions
• Perform emergency repairs and available for after hour and weekend repairs
• Work effectively with the customer, building tenants and other team members
• Ability to troubleshoot, complete work order assigned in a timely matter
• Ability to read Architectural and Manufacturing blueprints.
• Capable with basic office equipment to include cell phone, tablet, telephone, fax and copy scanner.
Requirements
The successful candidate will possess a High School or Equivalent diploma, a Journeyman HVAC License, an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Universal CFC License, and OSHA 30 certification. A background investigation and clearance are also required.
Salary
$65,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on experience.
