Job Summary of Refrigeration Engineer:
In this role the Refrigeration Engineer, will (be responsible for supporting field investigations, commissioning and training stakeholders on refrigeration, HVAC and control systems within our stores. The ideal candidate will work with ALDI Facilities and Construction teams along with equipment manufacturers to coordinate implementation of strategic initiatives and support resolution of complex mechanical complications. The ideal candidate will have experience working with refrigeration, HVAC and building management & Controls systems (BMCS). The role will also be responsible for educating and training others on these systems, and have an educational background in HVACR, Mechanical Engineering, Commissioning and/or Electrical/Computer Engineering. The objective of this role is (support and educate internal and external stakeholders on various technology deployed to our locations to drive energy optimization, system uptime and sustainability goals.
Responsibilities of Refrigeration Engineer:

• Recommends tactics for optimizing building operations and monitoring controls for stores, National Services offices, and warehouses.

• Supports design professionals in updating and maintaining accurate drawings.
• Assists ALDI Facilities and Real Estate divisions in gauging contractor performance and recognizing training demands.
• Interacts with equipment manufacturers and vendors to handle concerns that are either specific to the site or systemic.
• Works alongside government officials, utility companies, and equipment suppliers when needed for particular projects.
• Communicates regularly with stakeholders and vendor partners to coordinate facility management efforts.
• Supports the exchange of information between store development, facilities, systems, sustainability teams, and committee stakeholders.
• Counsels management on creating an effective strategy for their team. Advises leadership to consider engaging external vendors for specific services when necessary.
• Maintains communication channels between departments to ensure efficiency and timeliness. Collaborates with the business to develop and streamline relevant processes within the organization.
• Stays informed about external industry benchmarks and any notable modifications in their area of specialization; effectively updates leadership on these developments.
• Utilizes specialized knowledge in refrigeration systems, emphasizing CO2 and propane, as well as mechanical and electrical equipment, to supervise sites and ensure adherence to ALDI standards.
• Ensures attendance at site installations for equipment, overseeing the commencement of operations, commissioning procedures, and scheduled maintenance, then documenting the observations in thorough reports.
• Provides on-the-ground support at stores to assist with escalated requests, gathers detailed field data, and offers recommendations for resolving issues.
• Bridges the gap between internal and external parties by facilitating dialogue and problem-solving.
• Engages in instructing Real Estate (CPMs), Facilities teams, Central Teams, and contractors.
• Records every aspect of the visitation to the site.
• Enhances ALDI's Building Management & Control System via cross-functional cooperation.
• Establishes and updates records detailing opportunities to save costs and the measures implemented.
• Manages exact and uniform electronic records and paperwork.
• Consistently monitors market pricing and advancements in technology for essential transactions.
• Examines energy reports, leak documentation, repair logs, financial data, and other KPI reports to pinpoint non-compliances and implements efforts to reduce unnecessary costs.
• Supports the remote inspection of refrigeration and HVAC asset performance and proposes asset retirement and renewal in line with equipment standards.
• Provides coverage on standard concerns, programs for asset retirement and replenishment, key indicators for evaluating service company success, and tactics for cost management.
• Maintains and advances the scope of mechanical work while safeguarding the confidentiality and security of relevant documents and information.
• Consistently prepares and shares reports with their immediate manager to evaluate data trends that need to be addressed with service providers or equipment vendors.
• Analyzes bids from appropriate vendors to assess their suitability.
• Supports the establishment and execution of projects related to Building Management & Controls Systems (BMCS) and Energy Management Systems (EMS) to drive efficiencies and lower expenses linked to all store equipment.
• Coordinates the evaluation of cutting-edge technologies to guarantee the effective modernization of refrigeration, HVAC, and BMCS in diverse facilities, including stores, distribution centers, and corporate campuses.
• Maintains grasp of refrigeration, HVAC, and BMCS design principles and most efficient strategies.
• Validates the efficacy of technical advancements concerning BMCS and related product developments.
• Aligns with the team leader to set team KPIs and manage the overall distribution of tasks among team members.
• Develops essential messages for internal and external business partners about discoveries found through building systems.
• Collaborates with ALDI's Facilities and Construction departments and equipment partners to oversee the implementation of strategic projects and find solutions to difficult mechanical problems.
• Assisting with international projects and committees.
• Leads the process of defining the specifications for mechanical prototypes, particularly in the realm of refrigeration and HVAC, and analyzing their performance outcomes.
• Guides their team by steering projects and assignments to completion by effectively prioritizing, planning work, allocating resources, and collaborating across departments.
• Identifies chances for saving costs and potentially enhancing processes.
• Serves as the primary communicator between their team's staff and leadership to ensure alignment with the company's objectives, goals, and areas for improvement.
• Adheres to ALDI privacy and security criteria and measures if the job responsibilities involve potential access to confidential or sensitive information.

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer or information science, Programming, or a related field required.
• For this role, a minimum of 5 years in cumulative experience in refrigeration, HVAC, Building Automation, Controls, IT, and/or computer programming, alongside involvement in retail operations is necessary.
• Having worked with educating and training individuals on refrigeration, HVAC, and control systems is a plus.
• Additionally, a marriage of schooling and experiential learning can present an equal amount of knowledge.
Physical Requirements of Refrigeration Engineer:
• Tasks are executed in an office setting, a remote workspace, or a collaborative arrangement, where the use of computers and office supplies is integral to the job.
• Duties may be conducted in a construction environment, utilizing tools as necessary to fulfill tasks.
• Periodically required to be seated, extend, hold, rise, and move around from one place to another.
• Sometimes it is essential to apply force, tug, bend, raise, and reposition objects weighing up to 75 lbs.
