Job Description
As a Controls Systems Technician Intern at Johnson Controls, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of the HVAC industry. This internship is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of programming, instrumentation, and project management.
About the Role
You will be rotating through different teams within the company, including HVAC Technicians, HVAC Engineering, HVAC Equipment, HVAC Sales, HVAC Admin, Fire Technicians, and Project Managers. Your responsibilities will include:
• Loading system-level controller software
• Performing basic commissioning and system diagnostics from system-level controllers to end devices (i.e., sensors, actuators, etc.) and completing all required commissioning documentation
• Keeping management and JCI contractor or customer informed of job progress and issues
• Calibrating systems requiring basic electronic test equipment
• Completing administrative tasks, including time sheets, expense reports, and on-site documentation
• Documenting changes and providing information for as-built documentation
• Communicating with the JCI contractor or customer upon arrival and before leaving the work site
• FOLLOWING ALL SAFETY STANDARDS AND ATTENDING REQUIRED SAFETY TRAINING

What You Will Do
You will spend most of your time working with our Team Leader and his technician team on programming and instrumentation checkout. You will also work with other teams to understand the equipment side of the business, generate reports and meet deadlines for bids, and assist with billings and back-end office work.
Key Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities will include:
• HVAC Technicians - Work with our Team Leader and his technician team on programming and instrumentation checkout
• HVAC Engineering - Work with our Engineering Leader and her engineers on packing engineered drawings, tracking material, etc.
• HVAC Equipment - Work with our equipment PMs to understand the equipment side of the business
• HVAC Sales - Work with our Sales team by generating reports and meet deadlines for bids
• HVAC Admin - Work our admin team on billings and back-end office work
• Fire Technicians - Work with Quinten and his fire technicians on fire-specific devices
• Project Managers - Work with our Project Management team on managing projects across HVAC and Fire

Salary
The estimated salary for this internship is $50,000-$60,000 per year, depending on location and experience. We offer a competitive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
