Job Description
Performs complex BIM or Plant Data Centric assignments involving the use of multiple application platforms, such as Revit, Intergraph SmartPlant, Plant 3D, and other industry-standard software, to achieve set results and deadlines.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Works under general direction with a high degree of autonomy.
• Provides leadership and direction for specific BIM technologies to assigned project teams, ensuring optimal utilization of resources and adherence to project timelines.
• Develops and implements technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems in HVAC design and BIM implementation.
• Independently determines and develops approaches to solutions, considering both immediate project needs and long-term scalability.
• Performs complex assignments involving the use of multiple application platforms and intricate systems, including Revit software, to achieve set results and deadlines.
• Coordinates with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of HVAC systems with other building components in the BIM environment.
• Establishes and maintains BIM standards and best practices for HVAC design within the organization.
• Mentors and trains junior team members in advanced BIM techniques and HVAC design principles.
• Conducts quality control reviews of BIM models and HVAC designs to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
• Collaborates with clients, architects, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and translate them into effective HVAC BIM solutions.
• Stays current with emerging trends, technologies, and methodologies in HVAC design and BIM, and implements relevant advancements in project work.
• Participates in business development activities, including proposal writing and client presentations for HVAC BIM projects.
• Troubleshoots complex HVAC system issues within the BIM environment and develops innovative solutions.
• Contributes to the development of company-wide BIM strategies and initiatives, particularly in the HVAC domain.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Engineering, or related field
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• 6+ years of relevant experience in HVAC design and BIM implementation
• Demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education may be considered
• Proficiency in Revit, Intergraph SmartPlant, Plant 3D, and other industry-standard BIM software
• Extensive knowledge of HVAC systems, design principles, and industry standards
• Strong understanding of building codes and regulations related to HVAC systems
• Proven experience in leading and mentoring BIM teams on complex projects
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to develop innovative solutions
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and clients
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
• Professional Engineering (PE) license
• LEED AP certification
• Experience with energy modeling and sustainable design practices
• Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or C# for BIM automation
• Knowledge of cloud-based BIM collaboration platforms
• Experience in business development and client relationship management
• Published articles or presentations at industry conferences related to HVAC BIM
