What We’re Looking For: Controls Technician for Building Automation Systems

We’re looking for a Controls Technician to bring their skills and expertise to our team and help shape the future of the Building Automation Systems (BAS) industry. As a Controls Technician, you will be responsible for assisting with the startup, commissioning, and maintenance of customer systems that utilize PLC technology. Collaborating with our engineering team, you’ll see to it that our documentation is spot-on, our systems are perfectly calibrated, and expert technical support is always at hand to support you and our valued customers.
Stepping into the Role: Core Responsibilities for Success
• Participate in the startup, commissioning, and re-commissioning of customer systems.
• Maintain accurate As-Built drawings, providing a reliable reference for our engineering department.
• Calibrate systems using basic electronic test equipment, ensuring optimal performance.
• Assist in the commissioning of software programming, contributing to our innovative solutions.
• Set up operator workstations/servers with the necessary software, supporting operational efficiency.
• Oversee job database backups and support in transitioning jobs to the service department smoothly.
• Track and record job progress, providing essential updates to project personnel.
• Communicate issues or concerns to project management, ensuring the smooth running of operations.
• Complete necessary paperwork, including time sheets, expense reports, and project status reports, upholding our documentation standards.
• Other duties assigned.
What Makes You Stand Out: Qualifications Needed to Apply
• A valid Driver’s License that is maintained consistently.
• Ability to meet our company’s insurance carrier requirements for a clean driving record.
• Ability to comply with our health and safety policies, demonstrated by passing a basic drug screening.
• Willingness to travel in excess of 50% of the work week, consisting mostly of local travel and occasional overnight stays.
• Capability to perform physical tasks, including climbing ladders or using lift equipment up to 8 feet above grade and lifting items up to 50lbs*
• Basic understanding of control logic, having a fundamental understanding of commercial and industrial mechanical equipment.
• Existing knowledge in Direct Digital Control theory and its applications related to HVAC/Control would be an advantage
• Prior experience in HVAC and/or Building Automation is preferred but not essential.
• Previous experience with Automated Logic Software would be beneficial.
