Job Summary: The candidate must apply basic knowledge of engineering principles to design or manufacture products such as equipment controls, instruments, Labview and PLC controls, Plant Automation, etc. Provide engineering support for senior personnel and manufacturing. Candidate must be able to plan and conduct environmental, operational, or performance tests on electrical, electromechanical, experimental products, controls and systems.
Essential Responsibilities/Activities:
• Applies laws, rules, regulations, statistical problem-solving skills, departmental policies and procedures regarding assembly and common practice procedures and engineering issues.
• Communicates with management and shop personnel to develop production and design standards.
• Confers with engineering management to complete assigned projects. Make decisions under supervision concerning production issues.
• Evaluates new products through testing or test data and conduct meetings with potential vendors.
• Implement engineering policy and procedures.
• Directs and coordinates engineering activities concerned with development, procurement, installation, and calibration of instruments, equipment, and controls devices required to test, telemeter, record, and reduce test data.
• Designs and directs engineering and technical personnel in fabrication of testing and test-control apparatus and equipment.
• Determines conditions under which tests are to be conducted and sequences and phases of test operations.
• Directs and exercises control over operational, functional and performance phases of tests.
• Confers with scientific, engineering, and technical personnel to resolve testing problems, such as product or system malfunctions, incomplete test data, and data interpretation, consider such factors as conditions under which test was conducted and instrumentation, procedures, and phase of test used to obtain and record data.
• May use computer-assisted engineering software and equipment.
Other Responsibilities/Activities:
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Minimize bill of material errors by defining where, when, how and why parts are used.
• Create or revise engineering policy and procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
• An associates and/or a minimum of a Bachelors degree is preferred in one of the following: electrical test engineering, electrical engineering, controls engineering, or Instrument and Electrical Engineering or other technical discipline, or experience in the HVAC/Oil and Gas industry or other related field and may require 3-5+ years of experience in the field or in a related area.
• The candidate must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Works under direct supervision and relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under direct supervision and the primary job functions do not typically required exercising independent judgement and typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
Essential Mental Functions:
The qualified candidate must exhibit good decision making, analytical problem solving, statistical analysis and excellent organizational abilities. Additionally the candidate must able to communicate effectively, in written and spoken form, and possess excellent interpersonal relationship skills. Must work well in a team environment. Job requires that work be done at the AAON facility.

Requires periodic visits to manufacturing facility with seasonal hot and cold temperatures, dust, and some chemical fume exposure.
