GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This position works on the heating and cooling systems, as well as refrigeration units at the Wyoming Medium Correctional Institution.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed at the job level.
• Installs and performs fault analysis, maintenance, and repairs on various types of Heating Ventilation, and Air Conditioning systems.
• Installs environmental control units and facility support systems needing new installation or replacement systems.
• Specifies and designs required plumbing and electrical support infrastructure to include expanded service and electronic/digital controls.
• Regulates and accounts for the use of ozone-depleting substances regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency.
• Investigate the feasibility of converting systems to use environmentally responsible refrigerants.
• Responsible for ensuring a safe and enjoyable workplace, including participation in initiatives designed to promote a positive work environment.
Qualifications
PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:
Preference may be given to candidates with two (2) years of experience in HVAC.
• *Section 608 Technician Certification
KNOWLEDGE:
• Knowledge of Code requirements to include: American Society of heating and Refrigeration Air Conditioning Equipment, National Electric Code, National Plumbing Code and National Building Code.
• Knowledge of various types of heating systems including steam and hot water converters, infrared and forced air furnaces.
• Knowledge of various air conditioning systems including hermetic, centrifugal and absorption units.
• Knowledge of pneumatic, electrical and digital control systems.
• Knowledge of various types of ventilation systems.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:Associate's Degree Experience:0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in HVAC) OR Education & Experience Substitution:2-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in HVAC) Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:None
