About the Role
You will be enrolled in Howe's state-registered apprenticeship program, T.E.K. (Technology, Experience, and Knowledge). As an apprentice, you will assist in installing and fabricating commercial HVAC equipment under the direction of the Foreman. Each day may be different as you work on various projects including sheet metal ducts, roof top units, and other installations.
Your Responsibilities
You will participate in a monthly classroom training session where you will learn to read blueprints, troubleshoot issues, and carry out assignments as directed. Additionally, you will learn the importance of maintaining tools, repairing equipment, and keeping your workspace organized.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you must be mechanically inclined, able to follow directions closely, and possess good communication skills. Reliable transportation is also essential as you will need to drive to job sites regularly.
Career Development
This apprenticeship provides all the necessary training to qualify you as a licensed Sheet Metal Journeyman. While prior construction experience is not required, it is helpful. You must demonstrate basic skills and knowledge of the trade, as well as a good understanding of materials and tools used in the industry.
Working Conditions
Working in the sheet metal HVAC industry can be physically demanding. As an apprentice, you must have the physical strength to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50lbs, and have the balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas. You will also be working at height, on ladders or lifts, and in all weather conditions for prolonged periods of time.
