Overview
The Engineering Lab team at Johnson Controls is seeking a highly skilled Senior HVAC Test Equipment Specialist to join their Unitary Products Group (UPG) division.
This dynamic team designs, tests, manufactures, and assembles heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment for the light commercial and residential markets.
With two plants in Norman, OK, and Wichita, KS, employing approximately 1000 employees each, this role reports directly to the Engineering Lab Manager.
Job Description
The ideal candidate will work on the preparation and installation of test units in the test facility to simulate field installation conditions.
This includes evacuation and charging, duct connection, electrical connection, and other essential tasks.
Responsibilities also include setting up test facilities and connecting data acquisition instruments according to general instructions and per test standard requirements.
The selected individual will analyze test data, make modifications and adaptations to the test unit based on analysis, and utilize computer software programs as required to run the test facility, conduct testing, collect, and analyze test data.
Maintaining a clean work area and following established safety procedures are also crucial aspects of the role.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this position, candidates should possess a minimum of 1-4 years of experience in a related field.
A 2-year degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is also preferred.
Demonstrated working knowledge and skills in areas such as reading wiring diagrams, modifying unit wiring and controls, instrumentation, electromechanical troubleshooting, and modification of prototypes are essential.
Candidates should also have the ability to analyze data and make decisions based on analysis.
In addition, they must be able to lift equipment, compressors units, motors, sheet metal parts, etc.
HVAC experience and knowledge are also highly valued.
Benefits
This role offers a competitive salary range of $55,000 - $75,000 per year, depending on experience.
