Work Hours: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (Winter), Staggered Shift (Summer), Alternating on-call schedule to cover 24/7 emergency service, some weekends and evenings
Primary Job Function:
The Service Technician Level II is a field position intended for technicians who have a proficient level of industry knowledge and experience in the HVAC trade. The position is responsible for performing diagnostics/troubleshooting, repairs, and conducting maintenance calls on residential and light commercial heating & air conditioning systems. The technician will continuously be trained in client interaction, representing Hamstra's mission and values, and in all technical aspects of this position. Present repair and replacement options to the client. Perform all work according to company standards. The candidate will always provide an unmatched client experience and appropriately support and represent Hamstra's Mission and Values
Required Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Insurable by Company auto insurance carrier
• Minimum 6 months experience in the HVAC industry
• Required NATE Certifications: Core, plus 1 Specialty
• EPA Certification: Type II or Universal
• Have all required tools from the provided list
• Demonstrate ability to communicate with clients regarding diagnosing symptoms, explaining options for repair or replacement
• Ability to follow and adhere to the company safety program
• Demonstrate the willingness to accept increased responsibility in a leadership role
• Ability to work under extreme heat conditions
Essential Functions of the Position:
• Self-driven and motivated to complete tasks within the designated time frame, while achieving an acceptable level of quality of workmanship
• Maintain adequate vehicle parts stock levels
• Actively support and promote the Hamstra mission and values
• Adhere to policies regarding operating a company vehicle, inspections, maintenance, etc.
• Develop knowledge in electrical & refrigeration principles; testing devices; read & interpret wiring diagrams & blueprints; building codes; and air balancing principles and techniques
• Ability to work staggered schedule and overtime as needed
• Purchase minimum required tools
• Inform the client of replacement options following company guidelines
• Inform and educate clients on additional products and services offered through Hamstra
• Complete service repairs and preventative maintenance on a wide variety of residential and light commercial equipment without supervision
• Develop communication skills when interacting with clients regarding new/renewal maintenance agreement program information
• Collection of fees for services
• Complete all service-related documents properly
• Maintain professional appearance and attitude at all times
